The Chittaranjan Babus are a sub-group of the Baniya caste. The Chittaranjan Babus are a landowning community and are found mainly in the districts of North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Birbhum, Bankura and Purulia in West Bengal, and Kharifabad and Jamui districts in Odisha. They are also found in the districts of Patna, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. The Chittaranjan Babus are also found in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
