Dasharatha was the first king of the Kuru dynasty in Hindu mythology. He was the son of Kunti and the king of the Haihaya kingdom. Dasharatha was married to Kaikeyi, the daughter of the King of Madra. Kaikeyi was a shrewd and cunning woman, and she convinced her husband to give her a third of the kingdom. This caused a rift between Dasharatha and his sons, and eventually led to the Kuru dynasty's downfall.
