The city has a large Asian population, including a large Indian population. The city has a large European American population. Birmingham is a major center for the arts in the United States. The Birmingham Arts District is one of the largest concentrations of arts and cultural institutions in the country. The district includes the Alabama Theatre, the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the Lyric Theatre. The Birmingham area is also home to the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, the Birmingham Ballet, and the Birmingham Hippodrome.
