Jadhav is a Marathi Brahmin clan found mainly in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka in India. The word Jadhav is derived from the Sanskrit word 'Jyotishvara' which means 'lord of the stars'.
The Jadhavs are believed to have descended from the sage Vishwamitra. The Jadhavs are believed to have come from the ancient kingdom of Vidarbha, which was located in what is now the state of Maharashtra. They are believed to have migrated to the Deccan region during the rule of the Chalukyas.
