Jilujis are a sub-group of the larger ethnic group of the Yoruba, who are located in southwestern Nigeria. The Yoruba are believed to have originated in the area of Ile-Ife in present-day Osun State, Nigeria.
The Jilujis trace their ancestry back to the ancient city of Ile-Ife, where the Yoruba people originated. According to oral tradition, the Jilujis were one of the first groups of people to migrate out of Ile-Ife and settle in the area of present-day Oyo State, Nigeria. In the 16th century, the Jilujis were part of the Oyo Empire, which was one of the most powerful empires in West Africa at the time. After the collapse of the Oyo Empire in the 19th century, the Jilujis became part of the newly formed Ibadan Kingdom.
