Kudikyaal is a Tamil Brahmin caste from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The Kudikyaal are believed to have originated from the Chola dynasty, which ruled from the 9th to 13th centuries. They are said to have been the descendants of the Kudikyaal family, who were the chief priests of the Chola dynasty.

The Kudikyaal are a traditional Hindu caste and follow the Hindu religion and its customs and traditions. They are known for their hospitality and generosity and are considered to be among the most educated and cultured communities in Tamil Nadu.
The Kudikyaal are known to follow the traditional rituals of Hinduism, such as the offering of prayers to the gods, the performance of puja ceremonies, and the observance of festivals and fasts. They also observe the traditional practices of their caste, such as the wearing of the sacred thread, the performance of the Upanayanam ceremony, and the practice of vegetarianism.
The Kudikyaal are divided into two sub-castes, the Vadakalai and the Thenkalai. The Vadakalai are said to be more traditional and conservative in their beliefs and practices, while the Thenkalai are more open to change and modernity.
