History:

Rangatsinh is a Hindu Rajput clan found mainly in the Indian states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The name is derived from the Sanskrit words 'rang' (colour) and 'atishinh' (lord). The clan is believed to have descended from the ancient Sun Dynasty of Ikshvaku.
The Rangatsinh clan is said to have originated in the 12th century when Raja Ranavir Singh, the son of Raja Bhoj of Malwa, established the kingdom of Rangpur in the present day Gujarat. He was later succeeded by his son Raja Ranavir Singh II, who is said to have been the ancestor of the Rangatsinh clan.
