History:

The Shreevastavs are a Brahmin sub-caste of India, primarily associated with the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar. They are believed to have descended from the ancient sage Vishwamitra.
The Shreevastavs are believed to have been one of the earliest members of the Brahmin community in India. They are said to have been the first to embrace the Vedic religion and to have been instrumental in the spread of the Vedic culture in India.

The Shreevastavs are known for their traditional values and customs. They are expected to adhere to the strict rules of the Brahmin caste, such as following a vegetarian diet, avoiding alcohol, and upholding the sanctity of marriage.
The Shreevastavs observe several customs and rituals that are unique to their community. These include the performance of a special ceremony known as the 'Vastu Puja' to honor their ancestor, Vishwamitra. They also observe the practice of dowry, where the bride's family must provide a dowry to the groom's family.
The Shreevastavs are divided into two main sub-groups: the 'Saraswat' and the 'Gaud'. The Saraswat are the more traditional group, while the Gaud are more progressive and open to change. There are also several other sub-groups of Shreevastavs, such as the 'Kashmiri', 'Punjabi', and 'Gujarati' Shreevastavs.
